Screenwriter | Production Designer | Filmmaker

Robert James Atton is an accomplished filmmaker and screenwriter
with a distinctive eye for narrative atmosphere and visual
design. Born in Oak Lawn, Illinois, Robert’s fascination with
storytelling was ignited early by the works of R.L. Stine,
Stephen King, and Wes Craven. This passion was further
solidified during his youth when a teacher recognized his gift
for imaginative world-building—a talent he has since cultivated
into a professional career.
Robert’s technical journey began at age 14, designing immersive
environments for local haunted houses and studying the
intricacies of special effects makeup. After being inspired by
the narrative structure of Scream and Dawson’s Creek, he
dedicated himself to the craft of screenwriting, eventually
serving as an officer for his high school’s literary magazine.
Before transitioning fully into film, Robert spent over six
years in high-stakes medical environments, including five years
in the Emergency Room at Advocate Christ Hospital and nearly two
years in the Operating Room at Loyola University Medical Center.
These firsthand experiences with human trauma and social
disruption provide him with a unique, authentic lens through
which he explores tension and resilience in his scripts.
Robert holds an Associate of Applied Science in Film from
Flashpoint Chicago and is a graduate of the Illinois Center for
Broadcasting. With a professional debut on the film Black
Creek (2016), he continues to develop projects that blend sharp
dialogue with compelling, mood-driven production design.
