Andrés Cárdenas

Andrés is a renowned Colombian composer known for his work in cinema, nominated for the 2023 Macondo Award for Best Original Music for the soundtrack of the film 'Ermitaño'. His career, which dates back to 2006, includes films such as 'Santa María', 'Raíces Azules', 'Nigromante', 'La Marcha del
Hambre', and 'Ermitaño', among many others. He has collaborated with prominent Colombian directors such as Edwin Diaz, Arturo Loaiza, Gabriela Domínguez, and many others, with international commercial releases and participation in prestigious film festivals worldwide. He has also written music for television projects such as 'Airuna', 'Wuinkat', 'Los Espantamigos', 'Historias de Inventos', 'Mujer sin molde', among others, as well as numerous short films,
including the American short film 'Yellow Inside'. Andrés began his musical studies at the age of 8 with his grandfather, starting with guitar, later studying piano and continuing his studies in classical guitar with teachers such as Edwin Guevara and Gentil Montaña. He has participated in international guitar competitions such as the Havana Guitar Festival in Cuba, the World Wide Agustín Barrios Competition, and the Parkening International Guitar Competition, winning two awards at the El Nogal Guitar Festival in 2011 and 2012 respectively. He began his studies in musical composition with teachers Darío Chitiva and Ricardo Márquez, further deepening his knowledge with Gustavo Parra. In 2015, he was a scholarship holder at the VI Music for Film Lab in Mexico City, under the direction of Berta Navarro and tutors Andrés Sánchez, Leo Heiblum,
Eduardo Gamboa, and Peter Golub. He also attended orchestration workshops with masters Tim Davies and composition workshops with Lolita Ritmanis, Laura Karpman, and Gustavo Santaolalla. Andrés is a graduate of the National Pedagogical University and holds a master's degree in musical composition from UNIR (International University of La Rioja - Spain).
